for a leading wireless products and technologies player

Client

Our client is a leader of wireless server products and technologies.

Expectation

Our client wanted us to design a AMS-RF layout of their RF transceiver and high speed serial link blocks for Mobile and Server Interconnect.

Team

The team constituted 7 resources: 3 TX, 3 RX and 1 very senior human resource for top level integration and signal flow.

Duration

The team executed the project in a span of 10 months

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Cientra too complete ownership of the TX/RX block such as LNA, Mixer, I-Q mixer, PA, Switches, PLL and RF filter. They were able to:

  • Understand the transceiver block placements
    in the top level and handle layout issues such as sensitive signal and power routing, matching, shielding, guard-ring placement ,etc. in accordance
  • Perform complete verification flows
    (DRC, LVS, ERC, Antenna, ESD and latch-up qualification)
  • Review the layout with architect and design teams
    to ensure the results were satisfactory  (quick comeback with the AR’s given by circuit team)

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

  • Tools
    Cadence virtuoso layout editor L/XL, QRC L/XL for parasitic extraction and PVS flow
  • Engagement Model
    One block per person plus one resource to supervise the complete top level integration and clean up.
  • Application
    Targeting the analog-RF front end, for next generation Mobile sub-system.
  • Design specs
    Speed /Frequency like 800M-900MHz, 2.4/5GHz and multi-channel wireless system, in 90nm/65nm RF process technology
